Denys Baptiste Quartet

Denys Baptiste - Saxophone, Nikki Yeoh - Piano/ Keys, Larry Bartley - Bass, Rod Youngs - Drums

After almost two decades experience at the forefront of the British and European Jazz scene, Denys Baptiste  still brims with the confidence of a youthful spirit. With a stellar band that fires on all cylinders and a new home at Edition Records, Denys’ career continues to grow and blossom.

The Late Trane is his powerful and commanding new album. Reimagining and reworking ten carefully chosen compositions from John Coltrane’s late music (from 1963 - 1967) with a fresh and modern new interpretation, The Late Trane perfectly balances Denys Baptiste’s unique artistic vision with the visceral emotions and cosmic references that encompasses Coltrane’s late music.

This is an album by an artist in total control of his vision, a bandleader flexing his muscles and a musician in his instrumental prime. The Late Trane will fulfil his potential at an international level and bring a new audience to one of the finest instrumentalists and composers on the UK scene - something of a sleeping giant in the last 3 decades, but a giant that is about to wake!

Elliot Galvin

Elliot Galvin is one of the rising stars of UK jazz. A superbly gifted composer and pianist, whose maverick imagination and magpie like ability to blend a disparate world of influences into his own unique musical vision has seen him compared to Django Bates although in truth he sounds like no one except himself. From de-constructing standards to creating his own mirco-tonal melodica, Galvin’s music is both playful and deadly serious drawing on a wide range of influences from Keith Jarrett to Stravinsky, Ligetti, Deerhoof and the Beatles as well as the films of David Lynch, the Dada movement and the literature of James Joyce.

Jean Toussaint

Jean Toussaint - tenor sax, Mark Kavuma - trumpet, Ashley Henry - piano, Daniel Casimir - bass, Ben Brown - drums
Grammy-winning saxophonist Jean Toussaint first came to prominence when he joined Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in 1982, after studying at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Since moving to London in 1987, Toussaint has released ten critically acclaimed CDs as a leader.

Chiminyo creates revolutionary electronic dance music that has been blowing crowd's minds across London. He uses drumming skills to trigger samples, loops and textural sounds, the result is a rhythmically rich, infectiously groovy and visually stimulating live, one man show.

Trevor Watts has been at the forefront of many innovations within the Jazz/World and Improvised Musical areas both as a saxophone player, percussionist and composer since the 60's. The only founder member of The Spontaneous Music Ensemble still alive.
