DAVID ERDOS

David will be reading from his book No Last Word - Pausing To Praise Pinter

David Erdos is an Actor, Writer, Director, Teacher and a widely published Poet, Playwright and Critic. A regular International Times contributor, Literary Editor for MU magazine and Series Editor for Bite-Sized Books’ The Return to Reason Series, David’s YouTube Channel chronicles The Covidian Age and his album Between Bright Worlds is Spotifindable. He is celebrated for his expertise in the Poem-Review.

No Last Word is a book of poems and essays that reflects David's lifelong dedication to Harold Pinter's work as an actor, director, writer, and teacher.

From buying the first edition of his play One for the Road as his first independent purchase at 14, to working closely with many of his friends, family and associates, to playing Mick in The Caretaker at the Everyman Liverpool, to having his widow Antonia Fraser read one of the included pieces at his graveside, this collection, combining both the creative and the critical, reveals the extent to which that journey of love and veneration has been one of both fulfillment and constant fascination.

"David Erdos is a vital part of our 21st century counter-cultural connectome, skittering across the literary landscape like a bead of mercury and leaving freshly-soldered synaptic linkages in his wake. If it’s a matter of importance, synthesis, or beauty, then Erdos is there to document, dissect and celebrate: an enthralling chatterbox of the human condition" - Alan Moore

STEVE NORTH as his alter ego JONNY COMMUNE

Johnny Commune is back with GROWL!

Socialist punk rock troubadour Johnny Commune is back performing some well-known and some not-so-well-known punk rock songs as spoken word.

Johnny was last seen on a stage supporting Jimmy Pursey at a rebellion warm-up gig in Walton on Thames in 2003, the infamous night he smashed up and symbolically burnt up his treasured Les Paul junior copy after deciding punk rock had finally died under the yellow jazz shoes of Jimmy’s interpretive dance.

20 years later, Johnny is back to invoke the righteous spirit of Joe Strummer, Polystyrene and his long time hero Seething Wells, with a spoken word set of punk cover versions re-imagined as stand-up poetry..
If Ginsberg howled, then Johnny Growls.

Steve North is an English actor, writer, musician and director. He had his first major role playing firefighter Colin Parrish in the ITV drama London's Burning between 1990 and 1993. He has since appeared in numerous shows on British television, including Doctor Who, EastEnders, The Bill, The Day Britain Stopped, Murphy's Law, Holby City, Midsomer Murders, Doctors, Is Harry on the Boat?,and Casualty. North also played one of the two lead roles in the award-winning stage play Meeting Joe Strummer and was the solo performer in the original stage adaptation of Nick Hornby's Fever Pitch. He played the role of Ted Narracott in War Horse at the New London Theatre and also in the National Theatre's Live broadcast.

Sunday 18 May - 5:00pm

The world changes: we make new poetry to vandalise literary forms or retrieve those we need to renew.  We make new poetry to hybridise new species of understanding and reframe consciousness.

We make new poetry to have a good time.

Readings, recitations, incantations and events from established and upstart poets, word artists, ranters, spell-casters, rappers......and you if you want.

Running time:
3 hours
