Toi, La Maladie

A visceral fusion of dance, circus, & poetry

Mon 5 Aug 2019 to Tue 6 Aug 2019

Toi, La Maladie

Produced and presented by YOHURA
Hosted by The Cockpit

Toi, La Maladie paints the intimate, voyeuristic portrait of a love that courses through the body like an illness. It wages war with the psyche before it steals furtively away, leaving you aching and shivering in its wake. It permeates every vein and muscle, dissolving almost into a fever dream onstage. Brutal and virulent, tender and ravenous -  Toi, La Maladie is a haunting symbiosis of human geometry and human emotion, demanding that you bear witness.

Ren Datura and Yohan Durand  have fused their individual performance styles with contemporary dance and poetry to tell the raw, honest story of their tumultuous transatlantic history together. Yohan Durand is based in Lyon, France and is a self-taught diaboliste, while Ren Datura is a self-taught dancer and neo-burlesque artist from Toronto, Canada. They met backstage at a circus cabaret in 2016 and have been fuelling each other's craft and creation ever since.

Toi, La Maladie is their first collaboration as YOHURA.
